The Department of Geography at the University of Hong Kong (GEOG | HKU) offers a variety of courses and research opportunities, dedicated to the multidisciplinary study and education of geographical sciences. The department provides undergraduate and graduate programs covering fields such as human geography, physical geography, and environmental geography. Students can choose to major in geography or expand their studies through interdisciplinary courses such as urban governance.

The Jockey Club Quantitative Remote Sensing Laboratory (JCQRS Lab) focuses on the application of remote sensing technology in environmental monitoring and analysis. Research directions in the lab include climate change, land use change, ecosystem services, among others, utilizing advanced remote sensing techniques and data analysis methods to provide environmental management and decision support.

For more detailed information or to inquire about specific course offerings and research projects, you can visit the Department of Geography at the University of Hong Kong website (GEOG | HKU) and the Jockey Club Quantitative Remote Sensing Laboratory website (JCQRS Lab).

Unique features of the GLASS Products

1. Many of these products span over 35 years -- from 1981 to the present, especially valuable for long-term environmental change studies;

2. The radiation products have the spatial resolution of 5km, much finer than the commonly used products (e.g., CERES, GEWEX);

3. All products are spatially and temporally continuous with no gaps and missing values;

4. The broadband longwave emissivity product is the first product of this kind in the world at 8-day temporal resolution and 1km spatial resolution;

5. The GLASS products have been demonstrated to have high quality and accuracies. They have been widely used.
